Engineering Mathematics and Statistics
This course teaches the fundamental mathematical and statistical concepts that are necessary for many engineering applications including the characterization of uncertainty for risk and reliability applications. Engineering disciplines require understanding of specific areas of mathematics and statistics. Key mathematical concepts include linear algebra, vector analysis, differential equations and integral transforms. Key probabilistic and statistical concepts include multivariate probability distributions, Boolean algebra, goodness of fit, linear regression, parameter estimation (using both classical and Bayesian techniques), confidence intervals and hypothesis testing.
