ATanalytics and GIRS win NASA's SBIR program on Autonomous Systems for Space Exploration
/NASA's SBIR program funds innovative space exploration technologies that take us across the solar system and beyond.
This year, NASA has selected the team of a startup company ATanalytics (founded by a UCLA alumni) and The Center for Reliability and Resilience Engineering (CRRE) of The B. John Garrick Institute for the Risk Sciences for a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase-I project "Assured Resilience for Autonomous Systems."
The key objective of the project is to develop a methodology and a toolkit to close the gaps of resilience capabilities between autonomous and human-operated systems. One example of such a system is the Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover. The technical approaches envisioned will be based on the theory of Hybrid Causal Logic (HCL) and the software platform HCLA developed at the institute.
